62 year old woman dies while struggling for COVID-19 palliative in Rivers
There is a report from Vanguard that a 62 year old woman who goes by the name Mrs. Florence Onuobodo died while she was struggling to get palliative which the Rivers State Government Shared in Kingdom, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. According to the report, the Rivers State Government were sharing a COVID-19 palliative as the rest of other states have been doing.
Vanguard reported that Mrs. Florence Onuobodo was already waiting at the centre where the palliative is to be shared just like every other person. As the sharing of the Palliative began, there was a stampede which happened while everyone was trying to get their palliative, during the struggling to receive the palliative, she was stampeded which led to her death and the injury of four other women. Out of this women was a 91 year old woman who also sustained brutal injuries.
Emmanuel Amadi, who is a counsellor representing Elele, ward 4, at Ikwerre LGA Legislative Assembly, commented on the incident. Emmanuel denied the allegation which was on them that the process by which they shared the palliatives was not properly managed, as it was poorly managed.
The Woman (deseased) died at the Hospital where she was rushed to, as reported by the counsellor (Emmanuel Amadi).
